Young Heroes Assemble to Create Impact

It was indeed a one-of-a-kind early celebration of National Heroes Day when 184 young modern heroes from all over Cebu gathered for the third session of RAFI Center for Leaders’ (CFL) AYCEstorya: Conversations for Change.

RAFI CFL held its third AYCEstorya session on August 26, 2023, at the Cebu Grand Hotel, with the theme “Be a Hero in Your Own Way: Inspirational Stories from Cebuano Modern Day Heroes” and was graced by two innovative speakers, Eleanor Rivera, Owner of Healing Present Nature & Wellness Farm, and Jomelyn De Los Reyes, President of Bojo Aloguinsan Ecotourism Association (BAETAS).

The speakers talked about their advocacies and personal heroic stories, inspiring the participants to become heroes and contribute to their communities in their own unique ways.
Participants swarmed and lined up during the question-and-answer segments of each session, eager to engage with and ask questions to the speakers.

“Becoming a hero does not solely entail undertaking monumental feats. It is not limited to sacrificing one’s life for their country or risking their own well-being for others. Often, it is the seemingly insignificant acts that we perform that bring about significant transformations and allow us to become heroes in our own unique ways,” shared Heaven Leoanz Gagala from Benedicto College.

Toward the end of the session, RAFI CFL challenged the participants to creatively share their different simple ways of being heroes, by producing and publishing Facebook reels with fellow participants they were grouped with.
The 4th and final session of AYCEstorya for the year will happen in November 2023.
