Cebuano Youth Empowered and Equipped

to Foster Communities

The RAFI Center for Leaders’ Youth in Action (YIA) bootcamp was a strong finish for October, as it brought together Cebu’s changemakers from various schools and organizations, all driven to lead and make an impact.

The bootcamp, held last October 24-27, 2023, at Kool Adventure Camp in Balamban, Cebu, was attended by 75 youth leaders from 9 different schools and organizations, which generated 15 project groups, who then crafted and presented their “change projects” to help address issues and realities in their communities.

During the 4-day session, plenary discussions, experiential activities, and a land expedition were conducted to improve and provide input on collaboration, communication, citizenship, project management, and safety education.

“The important thing that I took away from the YIA bootcamp are the connections that I made with other people, and the potential collaborations that I can make with other organizations for our project”, shared Ruel Vincent ‘Jupiter’ Rivera, from the University of San Carlos’ Chemical Engineering Society.

Ramon Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. program officers were also invited to speak on RAFI’s advocacies allowing participants to engage with them and potentially collaborate on future initiatives.

YIA is a face-to-face 4 day bootcamp designed to equip the youth with character, competence, and citizenship, as well as to enable them to find their passion through awareness and team development sessions, and to develop marketable skills through project management sessions.
